COURSE ACADEMICS

All of our courses include skills academics that teach the steps for that course IAW our syllabus. Prior to the shooting portion each skill is explained and shown in detail until understood by the student. Laser training pistols are utilized to provide hands-on experience.

BASIC HANDGUN / SAFETY

BASIC HANDGUN is an academic and skills based training course focusing on Safety, Weapon Parts and Mechanics, Loading, Grip, Stance, Sights and Alignment, Aiming, Trigger Mechanics and Common Errors.

CHILD GUN SAFETY is taught as either a shooting course or academics only class to families and children to teach gun safety. Private, small or large groups available. Instructor is accompanied by a police officer to add instruction in how to deal with the police and 911 operator. Great for families, boy and girl scout troops, sports teams and clubs.

INTERMEDIATE HANDGUN and REFRESHER HANDGUN

INTERMEDIATE HANDGUN is a skills based training course focusing on Safety, Point Shooting, 2 eyes open shooting, Target-Centric Focus, Trigger Mechanics / Reset, Recoil Control, and Shooting from position 3 / 4. This course is our most popular for the avid shooter who has received little or no previous professional training. It bridges the gap between basic range shooting and realistic tactical shooting.

REFRESHER HANDGUN is a Back-To-Basics skills based training course combining the Basic and Intermediate Handgun Courses for our students that have already completed both. This is a great way to get back into shooting after a break in training or as a precursor for the Tactical courses.

TACTICAL HANDGUN 1 and 2

TACTICAL HANDGUN 1 is a Skills and Drills based training course focusing on Safety, Holster Draw, Reloads, Flash Sighting, Controlled Pairs / Triples, Multiple Targets, Malfunctions, Shooting on the Move and Retention Shooting.

TACTICAL 2 DRILLS is a follow-on course combining all the skills learned in the Tactical Handgun 1 course utilizing our 21 Tactical and Advanced Shooting Drills.

ADVANCED HANDGUN

ADVANCED HANDGUN is scenario based training course focusing on Safety, TX Law, Cover and Concealment, Multiple Shots, Multiple Targets, Threat Recognition vs Friendlies, Tactical Reloads, Malfunctions, Shooting on the Move, One Hand / Weak Hand, Shooting from Various Positions and Disengagement.

SPECIALIZED ADVANCED HANDGUN is our Advanced shooting course with very specific scenarios designed by the clients. Examples are:

1. Specialized training for Lights, Lasers, Red Dot sights, NVGs and Suppressors. Demos available.

2. Carjacking Defense Course.

3. Room clearing.

4. Personal protection guards defending a VIP.

COMPETITIVE HANDGUN

COMPETITIVE HANDGUN is a combined academic and shooting course.

Competition Rules Instruction: Safety, Equipment Requirements, Weapon Categories, Weapon Selection, Scoring and Scenarios

Range Instruction: Drawing, Shooting, Reloading, Timing and Scoring during Competition Scenarios.

CHILD GUN SAFETY

NRA PISTOL SIMULATION

NRA PISTOL COURSE is designed for beginner shooters and is mostly academic with only limited range shooting.

WEAPON SELECTION

WEAPON SELECTION course is classroom instruction on pistol types, size, grips, triggers, calibers, sights and mechanics. Designed to help in choosing a proper handgun. Also includes instruction in weapon reliability, recoil, round count, weight, ammunition availability, cost and ammunition bullet terminal performance. This course may be done at a store or at a range that has rentals and can be combined with our BASIC HANDGUN COURSE.

WOUND BALLISTICS

WOUND BALLISTICS is a series of three courses and includes terms, definitions and results from seven national level government ballistics tests. Comparison of over 10 different calibers shot into various media and barriers. Ammunition bullet terminal performance data includes penetration, reliability and consistency, Permanent Wound Cavity (PWC) and barrier performance.

IN HOME DEFENSE

IN HOME DEFENSE focuses on Locks, Lighting, Fencing, Doors, Alarm Systems, Pets, Police Notification, Safe Areas, Avenues of Escape, Family Reactions and Locations. Also includes home walk through and shooting scenarios, Safety, TX Law, Cover and Concealment, Engagement vs Flea Scenarios, Threat Recognition vs Friendlies, and Disengagement. This course can be done either at the clients house or a classroom.

ACTIVE SHOOTER

ACTIVE SHOOTER is an academic course that focuses on out of the house defense in a workplace or public enclosed environment to include: Run, Hide and Fight skills with and without available firearms. Police Notification, Safe Areas and Avenues of Escape. Additionally, Safety, TX Law, Cover and Concealment, Engagement vs Flee Scenarios, Threat Recognition vs Friendlies, and Disengagement are covered. This course can include walk through and shooting scenarios for the on-sight classes. Popular for businesses. Taught by a DoD qualified Active Shooter Instructor.

SPECIAL COURSES

FREE LEGAL COURSE

This multipart course focuses on current Texas gun laws.

1. Primer in criminal law for defensive shooting and the general philosophies of how to understand and interpret laws.

2. Criminal procedures, trial stages and how to interact with law enforcement and attorneys and protect yourself from prosecution.

3. Civil cases, when a self defender is protected from them.

Taught by current trial attorneys, weapons instructors and gun store owners. It is designed to increase the legal and defense knowledge of anyone currently holding a Texas LTC. Each course lasts approximately 2.5 hours and contains legal information, training opportunities and discounts on guns and equipment.
