BASIC HANDGUN / SAFETY (NRA)

COURSE DESCRIPTION: 

Designed to teach a novice how to safely handle their firearm at a range and shoot safely and accurately.  Instruction is academic and shooting.  Course includes safe operation and handling of a pistol, TX law, mechanics of a gun and shooting and finally analysis and correction of common errors.  This course is suggested in preparation for the TX LTC course.  This course may be combined with the TX LTC course if coordinated in advance.   A Handgun Safety Certificate is available at the completion of the course if requested.  

This course contains all the requirements of the NRA BASIC PISTOL course


TRAINING OVERVIEW: 

Academic and skills based training focusing on Handgun Parts and Mechanics, Safety, Loading, Stances, Grip, Sights and Alignment, Trigger Mechanics and Common Errors  

Lesson I:    Pistol Knowledge and Safe Gun Handling 

Lesson II:   Ammunition and the Fundamentals of Pistol Shooting 

Lesson III:  Introduction to Pistol Shooting 

Lesson IV:  Scoring Targets and Selecting and Maintaining your Pistol 

Lesson V:   Continued Opportunities for Skill Development
